Don’t Tell the Bride Comes to Trim – Twice in one Week!

Ladies, would you trust your man to choose your dream gown?! What are the chances are of him getting it right??

This week we are delighted to being filming with RTE for their brilliant wedding series ‘Don’t Tell The Bride’! We are super excited to help the groom when he arrives at the boutique, no doubt a daunting task for any man!

By chance this week we had a little practice run on a more low key, yet equally significant affair, read on….

A few weeks ago a very romantic (and brave) man,  came to us to choose his future fiance’s dress! He spent about half an hour browsing through the gowns with his two young daughters. Then we stepped in to assist, well as best as we could anyway! We enquired as much as possible on the future bride’s style, shape, her taste in dresses, whether she likes strapless, sleeves, lace or satin etc.   Eventually they settled on a Maggie Sottero strapless soft satin gown with beautiful diamante beading to the bust, a simple yet elegant and romantic gown, perfect for their abroad wedding!

Oh, did we  mention that he had already booked their beach wedding in an exotic location??!!

After he proposed to her on Sunday (undoubtedly a romantic gesture that we have yet to hear about!), she certainly got the surprise of her life when he took her to our seamstress Irina to ‘pick up a suit’.  blindfolded her and we nervously helped her into the Maggie Sottero number he had chosen.

Don't Tell The Bride

The Maggie Sottero Gown Lovingly    Chosen by our Romantic Man!

We looked on with baited breath as she stared in silence at her reflection, for what seemed hours rather than seconds. To see her shock turn to a huge broad smile, we all hugged with relief and joy!! To our surprise, it fitted perfectly and she commented that she could not have chosen as well herself.

She told us she had imagined that she could never ‘pull off’ a strapless sweetheart gown and presumed she never could. Yet there she stood, looking so radiant and beautiful in the form fitting strapless gown, one she would never have dared to don only for her future husband.

Now that is true romance personified, needless to say there were a few tears. What a man!

The experience is surely great practice for our ‘Don’t Tell the Bride’ experience this week, let’s hope the groom does as fantastic as this brave divil!

Keep posted to find out how our bride and groom get on!

Wedding Fairs – The Hidden Preparations!

Wedding fairs are the core ingredient for engaged couples preparing for their special day, where a venue hosts top class suppliers, showcasing everything from wedding favours to chocolate fountains!

The fairs are an excellent starting point for couples who aren’t sure where to begin planning a wedding as all exhibitors and wedding coordinators are on-hand for a chat or to answer any questions couples might have. They are a buzzing haven of information on the necessities for modern weddings, the one-stop-shop for meeting staff and suppliers, discovering a wealth of advice from photography prices to tailored package deals to the delicious taste of red velvet cake.

However, it is forgivable when overcome with anticipation and enthusiasm upon entering the venue, to overlook the effort and time that goes into organising a wedding fair, from the venue’s marketing campaigns and ballroom preparations to the individual supplier travelling and setting up their stall to exhibit and showcase their unique service.

Many venues spend lots of time and energy on advertising and preparing for an upcoming wedding fair, which they usually host twice in the year.  It is an important opportunity to show off the ballroom and service to couples at its absolute best from general decor, fresh flowers and mood lighting to the staff and bridal suites.

Simultaneously, the exhibitors are also seeking to show off their unique services on the day and Timeless Bridalwear are no exception!

In preparation for a wedding fair, the groundwork for us typically starts a week to ten days prior to the show.  We market our attendance to the fairs widely on social media and ensure to follow up on any queries.

Over the past two years we have mastered the ideal layout of our stands, depending on the table size and location in the ballroom.  A small bit of subtle visual merchandising is key to attracting couples to a stall! We also run competitions including vouchers and freebies, which we has proved very popular!

Our Table at a Recent Wedding Fair

Care and thought is put into the stand and table layout in order for it to attractively allow brides to see our great service!

Our table holds all information on what we offer brides – leaflets, business cards, competition forms for exciting prizes and completed with soft candle lit lanterns and scattered stars for that extra sparkle.

We never tire of meeting new brides and they are genuinely in awe of the value we provide and the savings they can make, there’s no need for a sales pitch!

A fashion show is an extremely interesting addition at a wedding fair and we have been fortunate enough to partake in many over the last two years. Sometimes the venue will hire models for the fashion show and other times we supply our own experienced models.

The Headfort Arms Fashion Show

We hold one or two meetings in the boutique to ensure our dresses fit the models perfectly and if not, which dresses require a nip/tuck here and there! We aim to choose a variety of styles and sizes and to give each dress a chance to get its day in the limelight. Once the dresses are finalised (which can take hours!!) each one is devotedly described in order of appearance they partake in the show.

The details are sent to the compère in advance of the show in order for them to familiarise with and liaise with us on any issues.

On wedding fair day, set up begins around two hours before kick-off, with all suppliers busily setting up their attractive stands before resting with a cuppa prior to opening.

With minutes to go to the fashion show, the models are secure in their first set of dresses, ready to show them off their to best potential.  An air of excitement coupled with the adrenaline keeps everyone pumped! Once the first run is complete, the pressure is on the models to undress and hurry into the next gown, not forgetting a veil or headpiece, but this is all part of the fast paced nature of a fashion show!

Couples attending one of our shows can expect to see an array of beautiful gowns, typically ten to twelve dresses will feature. It’s certainly an invaluable opportunity to see dresses come to life; they are so much prettier than sitting on a hanger!

The enormous effort from all suppliers to organise a wedding fair ensures that couples can gather all the important aspects of the big day under one roof.  They can gain fresh ideas and make informed decisions about their big day.  This makes it all worthwhile! 5pm comes too fast – time to pack up in anticipation of the next wedding fair – all in a day’s work!

Meath Style Awards

Finalists in The Meath Style Awards 2014!

Excerpt on Timeless Bridalwear published March 26th in The Meath Chronicle’s Inspire Magazine –

Lizzelle 022 (Large)

Is your dream wedding dress that cost a small fortune now a dishcloth or have you flogged it for little or nothing? An innovative, new bridal wear business in Trim is making sure that future and past brides all get to say ‘I do’.

Opened in early 2014, Timeless Bridal wear specialises in pre-loved dresses and is owned by mother and daughter team Lizelle and Adele Moran who are only “too aware of the exorbitant costs involved for a couple in advance of the big day”. They said: “Many brides pay thousands of euro to feel magical, elegant and beautiful and then the dress is zipped up in a bag and left in a wardrobe.

“We feel that this is such a shame so we set up Timeless Bridal wear to give stunning dresses another day to glow in the spotlight.” Offering an almost unique Irish service, Timeless is that “necessary link between a past and future bride”.

The duo will market, promote and advertise the dress for their client to get the sale and ensure that a new bride gets their dream dress at less than half the retail price.

“Many brides leave our boutique with a highend designer dress that they otherwise could not afford and with the sneaky possibility that they can now afford that extra week’s honeymoon,” they say.

This will ensure your experience can be transformed into an exciting, pleasurable and fun time.

Fundamentally  there are 6 types of wedding gown style silhouettes :

Empire Silhouette

The Empire Line Gown

Empire style is defined by the raised waistline which sits just below the bust from which the rest of the dress flows down to the hem. Skimming over the hips and tummy area, this silhouette is  perfect for pear-shaped brides. While the empire dress fits well on most body types, it is especially suited for brides with a smaller bust since it draws attention to the neckline and creates definition. Added accents and fabric embellishments, such as capped sleeves or delicate bead work, will help to draw attention to your chest and neckline, and therefore create the illusion of a fuller bust. In contrast, this cut can also work to conceal a large bust by controlling and minimizing the size of the bust due to the traditionally square neckline of the empire dress. The design of the empire dress is perfect for covering other unwanted body features such as a long torso, short legs, or a pear shaped figure. Since the dress flows from the bust line, it can easily leave these areas undefined. Note that the silhouette of the empire gown suits pregnant brides since the fluidity of the dress can accommodate a growing belly.

A-line Silhouette

The A-Line Gown

This style is fitted at the bodice and flows out to the ground with an unbroken line (resembling the outline of an ‘A’!) Due to its classic and simple style, the A-line dress is appropriate for any occasion, from a quiet backyard gathering, to a traditional church ceremony.  A great shape for all figures, in particular those with a larger bust. The full skirt of the A-line can also hide a larger lower body, or create the illusion of curves on a narrow frame. Since the A-line dress is so versatile, simple modifications to the neckline, waistline, or fabric can accentuate your best features and hide those your not so fond of!

Ball Gown Wedding Dresses 2

Ballgown Silhouette

The Ballgown

The ball gown style has a fitted bodice and a dramatic full skirt. While this style can accommodate most body types, the ball gown is ideal for slender or pear-shaped figures as the full skirt helps to accentuate the waist and hide the lower body. If you have a large bust, this style will help to create the hourglass look since it emphasizes the waistline due to the fitted bodice and natural or dropped waist.

A point to consider : The volume of the ball gown can create false and unwanted illusions. Be careful if you are on the shorter side since you may not have the height to balance the size of the skirt.

trumpet

Trumpet Silhouette

The Trumpet – The skirt on this wedding gown style flares out just below the hips, creating a semi-full skirt (shaped like the bell of a trumpet) without extra volume and bulk. It is often confused with the mermaid style as they are quite similar only is not quite as fitted as the mermaid silhouette.

Sheath-Spaghetti-Strap-White-Backless-Wedding-Dresses

Sheath Silhouette

The Sheath Gown

This style fits very closely to the contours of the body from head-to-toe (also known as column style) Similar to the mermaid style, the sheath dress is best worn by lean figures, both short and tall. The elongating nature of this design will help petite brides appear taller. However, the column dress does not allow much room for hiding problem areas, such as a larger lower body. It can conceal minor flaws if you opt for a constructed style that will stay in place, but the slip style will be unforgiving. Also, boxy figures that do not have natural curves may consider accenting the waistline with a separate bodice or sash to create the illusion of a defined waist.

Mermaid Silhouette

Mermaid Silhouette

The Mermaid

The mermaid silhouette contours to the body from the chest to the knee (or lower), then flares out to the hem. More fitted than the trumpet,  this is a very sexy look that highlights every curve so you must be confident and comfortable in your skin to pull off this look. The mermaid cut is not for everyone. This daring design is best worn by slender figures, both short and tall and it is not particularly well suited for those brides with fuller figures. However, if you are on the voluptuous side and want to accentuate your curves, this is the perfect dress for you. The most important thing to keep in mind when considering a Mermaid style dress is whether or not you will feel comfortable wearing it on your big day. You may have a flawless figure perfect for this type of dress, but if you do not feel confident in it, it is not worth choosing.

We feel overall, the most important thing is to not limit your preference. We will encourage you to try different wedding dress styles to see which suits your unique shape the best.

Regardless of your choice of wedding dress, on the day you will look stunning because if feeling confident your happiness will always radiate through!
